Women entrepreneurs affected by COVID-19

nepalnewsgazette.com September 17, 2020     Comment Closed     Health & Safety

Women entrepreneurs have been hardly hit by global COVID-19 pandemic. There have been difficulties in repaying bank loans, paying rents and paying employees due to negative impact in production and marketing as a result of the lockdown and prohibitory order, said the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs' Association of Nepal (FWEAN).

President of the FWEAN Rita Singh demanded that the government support women entrepreneurs by providing them concessional loans and facilitating marketing. Women entrepreneurs have been in mental tension due to difficulties in transporting products to the market and lack of communication exchange with limited access to information technology, she said.

She drew the attention of the government to help women entrepreneurs by implementing the gender responsive budget based on facts. She was speaking at a virtual interaction organised here on Thursday by the FWEAN. Established in 2060, the FWEAN has 124 members and 50 district committees.

Similarly, executive director of the FWEAN Anamika Singh and Chairperson of the Sancharika Samuha Nitu Pandit demanded that the government seeks new opportunities and potential avenues for women entrepreneurs affected by the pandemic.
