A women's march is being organized from Kathmandu to the Sagarmatha basecamp in a bid to create awareness on climate change impact.
Forty women from different sectors will launch the 13-day march from March 8, the Women's Day. An organization named 'Sathsathai' will be organising the event. In this connection, a women's team is leaving Kathmandu to Sagarmatha basecamp, Kalapatthar, after three days.
Information to this was shared at a programme where Justice at Supreme Court, Sapana Pradhan Malla, expressed happiness over such innovative approach of celebrating the Women's Day. It will establish the fact that women are able to work in the climate change issues. She further viewed the march would also give a message for climate action at a time when the global warming was causing snowmelt in the Himalaya.
The event is being organized under the slogan, 'women united for climate justice.'
