Writ petition filed against IGP appointment

npadmin May 2, 2022     Comment Closed     General

A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court against the government's decision to promote Dhiraj Pratap Singh to the post of Inspector General (IG) of Nepal Police.

The writ petition has been filed on Monday by Additional Inspector General of Nepal Police Bishwaraj Pokharel, who was one of the eligible candidates for the leading position of the police organisation. In the petition, Pokharel has been demanded cancellation of the government's decision to promote Singh, who is one and a half years junior to him.

It may be noted that a cabinet meeting on Sunday decided to promote Singh to the post of Inspector General of Police. A preliminary hearing of the writ petition will be held on Wednesday.
