Parties in Madhesh PA agree on allocations of thematic committees

Political parties who have their representations in the Province Assembly of Madhesh Province have agreed on the allocations of thematic committees.

Among ten political parties in the Madhesh Province Assembly, seven get the recognition of the parliamentary parties and they each, as per the agreement, will be taking the responsibility of one thematic committee, according to Democratic Socialist Party province lawmaker Upendra Mahato.

As he said, the party will be getting the Women, Children and Social Justice Committee and the CPN (Unified Socialist) is to head the Province Affairs Committee.

The main opposition Nepali Congress is taking charge of the Public Account Committee.

Remaining four committees are shared among the ruling parties. The largest CPN (UML) has the responsibility of the Agriculture and Land Management while the Janata Samajabadi Party which heads the province government has decided to keep the Development Committee for itself. Similarly, the CPN (Maoist Centre) has been given the Natural Resources and Environment Committee and the Finance and Planning Committee has been allotted to the Janamat Party.

The Province Assembly will call on PA members to for their participations in the thematic committees and then, parties will chose committees’ chairs internally. Each committee shall have 13-14 members including the chair.
