Kathmandu: The District Court, Kathmandu has granted permission for the police to detain 11 individuals, including RPP leader Rabindra Mishra and lawmaker Dhawal Shamser Rana, for a period of five days to investigate allegations of crimes against the state. These individuals were apprehended following violent incidents that occurred in Tinkune, Kathmandu, last Friday.
According to National News Agency Nepal, a bench presided over by Judge Taradevi Maharjan authorized the police custody for the 11 individuals linked to the Tinkune violence. Tirtha Raj Bhattarai, the record keeper at the district court, confirmed that those arrested on March 28 would remain in police custody for five days, while those apprehended on March 29 would be detained for four days.
Previously, the District Attorney Office in Kathmandu suggested that those detained on March 28 could face charges of crimes against the state after conducting an initial investigation into the events.
Ramhari Sharma Kafle, the Chief of the District Attorney, stated that an additional 30 people, who were detained on suspicions of organized crime and other criminal activities, are also being considered for extended police custody.
