Kathmandu: A total of 115 individuals from 14 disaster-prone households in the Bajura district have been relocated to safer areas after a landslide buried two houses in Katigaun, Gaumul Rural Municipality.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the homes of Purnimal Bohara and Budi Bohara were destroyed in the landslide, which occurred on Thursday afternoon following heavy rainfall. Spokesperson of the District Police Office, Naresh Bahadur Shahi, reported that 115 people from 14 nearby households were moved to a safe location due to the increased risk of further landslides. These individuals have been temporarily housed in makeshift huts.
Additionally, Chairman of Gaumul Rural Municipality, Hari Bahadur Rokaya, announced that a team has been deployed from the rural municipality to ensure that relief materials are provided to those affected by the disaster.
