Kathmandu: The 14th European Union Film Festival (EUFF) is set to unfold in Nepal, with screenings scheduled from November 14-16 at Chhaya Centre, Kathmandu, and from November 21-23 in Pokhara.
According to National News Agency Nepal, this year’s festival will feature a selection of 25 films, including 10 European films, six short films nominated for the BAFTA award from the United Kingdom, and nine short Nepali films. The films chosen for the festival explore themes such as social identity, resistance, and transformation. The selected films reflect elements of courage, memory, hope, language, and culture.
Among the films featured are “Banjo” from Portugal, “Je’vida” from Finland, “Happy” from Austria, “Without Air” from Hungary, and “The Girl From Tomorrow” from France and Italy. Additionally, BAFTA-nominated short films from the UK-such as “Wander to Wonder,” “Rock Paper Scissors,” “Mog’s Christmas,” and “Milk and Adios”-will be showcased, along with Nepali short films selected from local film artists and related organizations.
The EU Delegation to Nepal, which is organizing the EUFF, announced that all films will be screened free of charge. Each film will have English subtitles to ensure accessibility. The festival will also host events aimed at strengthening connections between the arts, industry, and education.
