Tokyo: The 14th Nepal Festival commenced today in Tokyo, Japan, under the banner ‘Identity of Nepal and Nepalis in Japan, Promotion of tourism in Nepal through 14th Nepal Festival’. This annual event is a collaborative effort by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Japan, the Embassy of Nepal in Tokyo, and the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities Japan.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the two-day festival is taking place at Nakano Shikinomori Park in Tokyo. Its primary goal is to introduce Nepal’s rich art and culture to a global audience while fostering a sense of belonging among the Nepali diaspora and promoting unity among its members.
NRNA Japan has emphasized that this year’s festival also aims to raise funds for the construction of a multicultural center known as the Nepali House, which will symbolize the identity of Nepal and Nepalis in Japan. The festival features fundraising campaigns, food stalls, volunteer teams, and exhibitions of various ethnic costumes, art, culture, and
Nepali cultural talents, as stated by NRNA Japan President and Festival Main Organizing Committee Coordinator, Nabin Niure.
A total of 40 stalls have been set up for the festival, according to NRNA Japan Spokesperson Khagaraj Gautam. Additionally, documentaries and photo exhibitions showcasing Nepali art and culture, social customs, and tourist sites are being presented during the event.
The NRNA Japan has been organizing this festival in Japan since 2012, reflecting its ongoing commitment to celebrating and sharing Nepali culture with the world.
