Kathmandu: The 18th Library Day is being observed with the theme of ‘Our Library: Our Future’ on the upcoming August 31. A main celebration committee has been formed to oversee the event, led by the secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the committee includes representatives from various libraries such as the National Library, Keshar Library, and the Nepali Community Libraries Association. The initiative aims to bring together stakeholders from different sectors to reaffirm the importance of libraries in society.
As part of the celebration, the government has plans to honor libraries and advocates who have significantly contributed to promoting library culture. This gesture is intended to recognize and encourage the efforts made towards advancing library services and accessibility across the region.
National Library Day is observed annually on Bhadra 15 in the Nepali lunar calendar. The day is dedicated to fostering a stronger library culture and enhancing the library sector throughout the country, reflecting its ongoing commitment to educational and cultural development.
