Kathmandu: Nepal witnessed as many as 4,597 disaster-related incidents in the last six-and-a-half months. The incidents were recorded since the New Year, 2082, with a total of 335 persons losing their lives due to these disasters.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Shanti Mahat, the spokesperson at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), reported that 41 persons have gone missing, and 1,264 were injured in landslides and floods during this period. The data shows that NDRRMA documented 316 flood incidents, which resulted in 37 deaths and 27 missing persons. Additionally, 67 persons were killed in 550 landslides.
Other incidents contributing to human and physical losses included lightning strikes, snakebites, animal attacks, fires, avalanches, and storms.
