7,231 Disaster Incidents Recorded Nationwide in 11 Months


Kathmandu: A total of 7,231 disaster incidents have occurred across the country in the past 11 months.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) reported that 479 people have died and 1,800 have been injured in these incidents, affecting 13,098 families.



Of the disasters, 3,480 were fire incidents, 321 were floods, 604 were landslides, 442 were heavy rains, 406 were lightning strikes, and 600 were snake bites. Additionally, there have been 279 forest fires, 451 storms, 504 wild animal attacks, 123 landslides, and five avalanches.



The NDRRMA also recorded seven earthquakes, two hailstorms, and two boat capsizing incidents, alongside one incident each of strong winds and a cold wave. The details made public by the NDRRMA highlight that 26 disasters occurred from the morning of March 24 to the morning of March 25. On the same day, fire incidents were reported in 13 locations across nine districts, resulting in injuries to 10 people.
