Khagrachhari: Eight more leaders and activists of the banned Chhatra League, Jubo League, and Swechchhasebak League have been arrested here during the ‘Operation Devil Hunt.’
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested individuals include Chittagong Mohsin College Chhatra League joint secretary and Mahalchhari upazila Chhatra League vice president Abhi De, Dighinala upazila Swechchhasebak League general secretary Abul Kalam Azad, upazila Awami League member Afzal Hossain, and Jubo League leaders Md. Hashem, Anwarul Haque, Ali Akbar, Helal Uddin, and Bhaibonchhara Union Jubo League Youth and Sports Affairs secretary Md. Abdur Rahman Jibon.
Police apprehended Chhatra League leader Abhi De from the Mahalchhari area on Sunday night while he was allegedly preparing to create a panic situation in the area. He is accused of attacking protesters during the July-August Uprising.
With these arrests, a total of 12 people have been detained in the district. Khagrachari Police Superintendent Md. Arefin Jewel stated that to prevent instability, law enforcers conducted raids in different areas of the district, leading to the arrests. Each of the arrestees is accused in several cases.
