Dhaka: A total of 84 new books hit the stalls of Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2025 today, the tenth day of the fair.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the newly published books include six stories, 18 novels, two essays, 21 poems, and one research work. Other categories are a rhyme, two biographies, a book on the Liberation War, a drama, two science books, a travel book, two history books, a political book, a language book, two books on mass uprising, a religious book, a translation, a science fiction, and 16 others. These books were on display in the stalls, a press release said.
A discussion titled ‘Dr Maniruzzamaner Somoyrekha: Bhasha Bigganer Threekaldarshi Paribrajak’ was held today at the main stage of the book fair. Mashrur Imtiaz presented an article with Professor Mansur Musa in the chair. Litterateur Salma Nasrin and Mamun-or-Rashid participated in the discussion.
The fair will open at 3 pm tomorrow and continue until 9 pm. A discussion titled ‘Jibon o Sahithya: Shahed Ali’ will take place at the main stage of the book fair tomorrow at 4 pm. Litterateur Chanchal Kumar Bose will preside over the discussion, with litterateurs Nazib Wadud and Mostaq Ahmed Din participating, and Shibli Azad presenting an article.
This year, the fair hosts 99 stalls on the premises of Bangla Academy and 609 stalls at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan. A total of 708 publishers are participating in the fair, compared to 642 last year. Visitors can visit the fair from 3 pm to 9 pm every day, and on holidays, it will remain open from 11:00 am.
The fair also features 37 pavilions-one at Bangla Academy and 36 at Suhrawardy Udyan. A space for little magazines has been set up near the open stage of Suhrawardy Udyan. The theme for this year’s book fair is “July Gono Obbhuthyan: Notun Bangladesh Binirman” (The July Uprising: Rebuilding a New Bangladesh).
