Agriculture Minister Adhikari Embarks on Official Visit to Mexico for CIMMYT Programs.


KATHMANDU: Agriculture Minister Ramnath Adhikari has departed for Mexico to engage in several programs organized by the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT). Minister Adhikari’s visit includes participation in both bilateral and multilateral meetings aimed at enhancing wheat and maize crop promotion, as announced by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development.

According to National News Agency Nepal, these discussions will pave the way for research and development activities, aligning with a 10-year agreement between the Government of Nepal and CIMMYT. The agreement focuses on preparing plans for joint programs that will support Nepal’s agricultural advancement.

During his visit, Minister Adhikari is scheduled to meet with Mexican agriculture officials and the CIMMYT chief. These engagements are anticipated to bolster Nepal’s Agriculture Development Strategy and contribute to activities associated with the Agriculture Investment Decade, a significant initiative by the Governme
nt of Nepal.

Minister Adhikari is accompanied on this official visit by joint-secretaries Ram Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bahadur KC from the Ministry, as well as his private secretary Rosan Adhikari, among other officials.
