Kathmandu: The 13th Nepal-Africa Film Festival is set to take place in Kathmandu during the third week of January 2025. Organized by the College of Journalism and Mass Communication (CJMC) alongside Bilakshan Creation, the festival aims to foster cultural exchange between Nepal and Africa.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Dabbu Chhetri, the festival director, announced that applications for participation are now open following the announcement of the festival dates. Chhetri emphasized the event’s objective of enhancing cultural understanding of Africa, noting that this year’s festival will also include international films. The festival will showcase a variety of film formats, including Nepali feature films, short films, and documentaries.
Chhetri highlighted that although previously the festival focused solely on films from Nepal and Africa, this year it will accept entries from other countries under a new ‘international category’. The submission deadline for film registrations is December 31. In ad
dition to film screenings, the festival will host workshops, discussions on Nepali films, and other related events.
