Kathmandu: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari emphasized the importance of cooperation between the government and the private sector to advance economic activities. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the three-day Plast Nepal exhibition at Bhrikutimandap, Minister Bhandari highlighted that resolving the challenges facing the national economy requires collaboration with the private sector. He noted recent improvements in economic indicators, suggesting a positive trend.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Bhandari stated that the capital market should flourish with an increase in domestic production and a reduction in the trade deficit. He highlighted the role of introducing the latest technology to ensure a continued rise in economic activities. The Minister identified the major challenge as replacing imports with increased exports and mentioned ongoing preparations to amend various laws related to industry and business to address this issue. Minister Bhandari also asserted that Nepal offers an investment-friendly environment, urging industrialists to remain confident rather than concerned. During the event, FNCCI Chairman Chandra Dhakal and other business leaders praised the government’s efforts to improve the economic situation, aligning with suggestions from the private sector.
