State Should Ensure Life-Long Social Security to Workers: Labour Minister Bhandari.

Lalitpur: Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Affairs, Sarat Singh Bhandari, has laid emphasis that the state should ensure life-long social security for every working citizen. At a programme organized by Nepal Trade Union Congress in Lalitpur today, Minister Bhandari shared that all problems related to labour would be resolved at coordination and collaboration of the bodies concerned, adding the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Affairs is the ministry of workers.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the Labour Minister stressed the necessity of amending the labour act, highlighting that the government alone cannot achieve this without the active participation of stakeholders. “Citizens cannot feel safe until the state guarantees life-long social security,” he mentioned. Bhandari also emphasized the crucial role of trade unions in ensuring that ministries work efficiently for the welfare of workers.

Similarly, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Japanese Embassy in Nepal, Takahiro Tamuro, exp
ressed his belief that the seminar would be instrumental in sharing knowledge and experiences about working environments and fostering healthy industrial relations.

Likewise, Executive Director of Japan International Labour Foundation (JILAF), Toshiro Motobhayashi, noted that JILAF has been organizing various labour-related programs in different countries since its establishment in 1989. He further stated that the programme was organized with the objective of establishing constructive industrial relations by coordinating efforts between workers and employers.
