22,000 Women Receive Skill Development Training in Nilphamari District


Nilphamari: In the first six months of the current fiscal year, the Department of Women Affairs has provided skill development training to 22,202 women in Nilphamari district.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a total of Taka 4.17 crore, 50 allowance, and 7,158 metric tonnes of rice have been distributed among the women who received the training. This initiative was spearheaded by the Nilphamari District Department of Women Affairs office, focusing on various trades to empower women in the region.



The Department of Women’s Affairs reported that 320 women received hands-on training in dress making and tailoring, certificate courses in beautification, show-piece and handicraft making, hand embroidery and manipulation works, and box making and packaging.



Under the Vulnerable Women Benefit (VWB) programme, 19,882 women were trained in income-enhancing and skill development activities. Additionally, under the Investment Component for Vulnerable Group Development (ICVGD) programme, 2,000 women underwent training in integrated human development, entrepreneurship development, trade-based development, accounting education, value chain and market linkages, and social behavior change.



The PID information bulletin highlighted the significant impact of these training programs by the Department of Women’s Affairs, noting their effectiveness in improving the quality of life for women and contributing to poverty alleviation.
