Huge Money Being Spent for Conspiracies to Create Unrest in Peaceful Bangladesh

Chattogram: Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Maulana Muhammad Shahjahan has alleged that hundreds of crores of money are being spent as part of conspiracies to create unrest in peaceful Bangladesh. He warned of consequences if the ousted autocratic power, which he claims almost destroyed the country over the last 15 years, manages to resurface. Shahjahan emphasized that the nation would not forgive such actions and those responsible would have to answer to the people.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Jamaat-e-Islami leader made these remarks at a function organized by the city unit Jamaat on the occasion of unveiling its central publication titled, ‘The Martyrs of 2nd Independence.’ The 2500-page, 9-volume book contains detailed information on the martyrs of the July uprising. The event took place at the Chattogram Press Club auditorium, with city unit Ameer Shahjahan Chowdhury presiding.

Maulana Muhammad Shahjahan, serving as the chief guest, stated that the brave sons of the country have returned Bangladesh to its people through their supreme sacrifices during the July uprising. He expressed disappointment over the country’s progress since the War of Independence in 1971, accusing the Awami League of distorting the history of the Independence War to maintain power without the people’s mandate.

City unit Jamaat Ameer Shahjahan Chowdhury accused Sheikh Hasina of being the mastermind behind the July-August genocide as well as the killings, enforced disappearances, and extensive looting of the country’s resources over the past 15 years of what he termed as fascist rule. He called for the trials of the mastermind and her close allies to be completed before the next national polls.

The function was attended by city and district unit leaders, including Prof. Ahsan Ullah, Principal Amiruzzaman, Alauddin Sikder, Dr. A.J.M Obayed Ullah, and Muhammad Nazrul Islam, among others. It was moderated by city unit general secretary Principal Muhammad Nurul Amin. Family members of martyrs also addressed the gathering, sharing personal stories and calling for justice for their loved ones.
