Rangpur: Anwar Hossain from The Daily Campus and Emon Ali from Dainik Amar Desh have been elected as the new President and General Secretary of the Begum Rokeya University Journalists’ Association (BRUJA) respectively. The election, which took place at the university’s cafeteria, saw participation from all seventeen BRUJA members to form the nine-member executive committee for the 2025-2026 term.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the other members elected to the executive committee include Md Abu Sayeed from Dainik Sangbad as Vice-president, Md Kamruzzaman Pulak from Dainik Janakantha as Joint Editor, Md Abul Khair Zayed from Dainik Kaler Kantha as Office and Publicity Secretary, and Al Amin Sadiq Sayem from Campus Bangla Online Portal as Treasurer. Additionally, Md Sajjadur Rahman from Dainik Samakal, Md Azizur Rahman from Education Times, and Md Shariful Islam from Banglavision Campus have been elected as executive members.
The election was overseen by a three-member Election Commission led by Professor Dr Md Ileas Pramanik, Chief Election Commissioner and Director of the Office of Student Affairs at BRUR. The commission also included Md Ali Hasan, Secretary of the estate department of BRUR, and Md Mahfuzul Islam Bakul, a former BRUJA executive committee member.
