BPA Protests Anti-State Conspiracy by Ex-IGP Benazir

Dhaka: The Bangladesh Police Association (BPA) has issued a strong protest against what it terms a conspiracy against the state by former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed. The BPA’s statement highlights concerns about Benazir Ahmed’s involvement in a virtual meeting that allegedly discussed conspiratorial activities against the Bangladesh police force.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Benazir Ahmed, who is a fugitive and faces charges including genocide, corruption, and money laundering, participated in the meeting with followers of the fascist government. The BPA has expressed severe disapproval of such actions, emphasizing that these activities undermine the professionalism of the police association and its members.

The statement, signed by BPA President Kamrul Hasan Talukder and General Secretary Monirul Haque Dablu, noted that one of Benazir’s statements regarding the Bangladesh police force has been circulating on social media, drawing the BPA’s attention. The association regards this as a deep-rooted conspiracy against the country, equating it to treason, and clarifies that no force can bear the responsibility for an individual’s actions.

The BPA also conveyed that police members are shocked and angry at actions perceived as against the police. The association reiterated that following the mass uprising of students and the public in July-August, all police members have been working diligently with a patriotic spirit to form a pro-people police force, aiming to fulfill the aspirations of building a new Bangladesh.

Furthermore, the BPA stresses that any controversial former members of the police force, who served under the fascist government, should face trial under the existing law of the land.
