Government to Increase TCB Cards to One Crore: Commerce Adviser

Khulna: Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin has announced that the government will revise the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) cards, raising the number to one crore. “The government will correct the TCB card with increasing it to one crore, and these works will be done as soon as possible,” he stated during a meeting with TCB dealers and stakeholders at the Khulna deputy commissioner’s conference room yesterday.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the adviser emphasized that only those who are genuinely needy and eligible will be included under the TCB card scheme. He acknowledged past irregularities in the distribution of TCB cards, asserting, “Huge anomalies were there with the TCB card in the past… We will never do what fascists had done. There would be no difference with them if we do what they have done.”

Discussing the activation of TCB cards and the distribution of commodities, Sk Bashir Uddin expressed confidence that existing challenges would be addressed collaboratively. He instructed officials to avoid political bias in the allocation of TCB cards.

TCB Chairman Brigadier General Mohammad Faisal Azad also addressed the gathering as a special guest, with Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam presiding over the event.
