Muscat: Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain is set to attend the Indian Ocean Conference in Muscat, the capital of Oman, scheduled to be held from February 16-17. The adviser departed Dhaka this evening for Dubai, accompanying Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, who will attend the ‘World Government Summit 2025’ in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, from Dubai, the Foreign Affairs Adviser will travel to Muscat on February 14 to join the Indian Ocean Conference, as confirmed by an official from the foreign ministry this evening. Hossain is expected to return home on February 18 after attending the conference, the official added.

Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is also scheduled to attend the conference in Muscat. The Indian Ocean Conference was initiated by India Foundation in 2016 in Singapore, with participation from 30 countries. Over the past eight years, the conference has emerged as the flagship consultative forum for countries in the region to discuss regional affairs.

The conference aims to bring critical states and principal maritime partners of the region together on a common platform to deliberate upon the prospects of regional cooperation for Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR).
