Ekushey Book Fair and Youth Festival Kick Off in Satkhira


Satkhira: A 10-day Youth Fair and Ekushey Book Fair were inaugurated in Satkhira on Wednesday, February 12, as part of the Youth Festival celebrations. The event, themed ‘Esho Desh Bodlai, Prithibi Bodlai’ (Come change the country, change the world), was officially opened by Satkhira Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mostaq Ahmed at Shaheed Abdur Razzak Park at 11 am.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the inauguration ceremony saw the presence of several key figures, including Satkhira Police Superintendent Md. Monirul Islam Monir, Satkhira Government College Principal Professor Abul Hashem, and Satkhira Government Women’s College Principal Professor Basudeb Basu. Additional Deputy Commissioners Bishnupada Pal (general) and Ripon Biswas (ICT), NDC Palash Ahmed, District Information Officer Md. Jaharul Islam Tuttle, and Cultural Officer Faiza Hossain Anbesha, along with various other administrative officials, also attended the event.



Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mostaq Ahmed emphasized the significance of UNESCO’s recognition of February 21 as International Mother Tongue Day. He highlighted the importance of this day for Bengalis and encouraged the community to hold it dear. Following the inauguration, the attending dignitaries toured the book fair. Mostaq Ahmed called on local writers, poets, and literary figures to actively engage in the fair, underscoring the role of literature in cultural development.
