Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today visited three spots of Aynaghor, the notorious secret prison during the era of fallen Sheikh Hasina’s government, in Dhaka. Prof Yunus was accompanied by members of the advisory council, members of the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances, victims, and local and international media personnel during his visit to the sites.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Chief Adviser examined the locations in Dhaka’s Agargaon, Kachukhet, and Uttara areas, which were previously utilized as torture cells and secret prisons. The visit aimed to shed light on past human rights violations and provide a platform for victims to share their experiences.
Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the visit and highlighted the importance of recognizing the historical significance of these sites. The presence of local and international media ensured that the visit received widespread attention, emphasizing accountability and transparency in addressing past injustices.
