Women’s Cricket Tournament Set to Commence at Dhanmondi Sultana Kamal Women’s Sports Complex


Dhaka: On the occasion of the Festival of Youth 2025, a Women’s Cricket tournament is scheduled to begin on Thursday at the Dhanmondi Sultana Kamal Women’s Sports Complex in the capital. The event promises to bring together talented female cricketers in a two-day competitive meet.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tournament will be officially inaugurated by former national women’s team cricketer Panna Ghosh and Sathira Jakir Jessi, who is an umpire and also a former national cricketer. The opening ceremony aims to set a celebratory tone for the event, highlighting the achievements and contributions of women in cricket.

Youth and Sports Secretary Rezaul Maksud Jahedi is expected to grace the closing ceremony on Friday as the chief guest. His presence will be marked by the distribution of prizes to the winners, adding a prestigious touch to the culmination of the tournament.

Additionally, National Sports Council Secretary Md Aminul Islam, NDC, and Md Nazmul Abedin Fahim, who serves as the chairm
an of cricket operations and the women’s wing as well as a director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, will attend as special guests. Their participation underscores the significance of this event in promoting women’s sports in Bangladesh.

Organized by the Bangladesh Women’s Sports Association, the tournament will feature a total of 60 players from four teams. This initiative reflects ongoing efforts to bolster the presence and development of women’s cricket in the region.
