Muscat: Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain today urged Oman to ensure guaranteed energy supply to Bangladesh while seeking deeper cooperation in the energy sector with the Middle Eastern nation. He made the request during a bilateral meeting with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi on the sidelines of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference (IOC) in Muscat, as per a press release from the Bangladesh foreign ministry.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the meeting, the foreign adviser also urged his Omani counterpart to recruit Bangladeshi professionals, including doctors, engineers, IT professionals, and nurses. He specifically requested the recruitment of world-class shipbuilding technicians from Bangladesh, citing their potential contributions to the Omani shipbuilding industry.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries. Both sides recalled that Bangladesh and Oman are soon to complete the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations and agreed to celebrate the milestone accordingly. In this context, the foreign affairs adviser extended an invitation to his Omani counterpart to visit Bangladesh for the celebration.
Hossain also expressed gratitude to Oman for hosting a large number of Bangladeshi expatriates who are contributing to the economies of both countries.
