Muscat: Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain today urged the Qatar government to recruit Bangladeshi professionals like doctors, engineers, IT professionals, and nurses. In this regard, he invited representatives from the relevant authorities in Qatar to visit Bangladesh to meet the professionals for prospective recruitment.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the foreign adviser made the call during a meeting with Qatari State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad bin Sultan Al Muraikhi, on the sidelines of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference (IOC) in Muscat, as stated in a Bangladesh foreign ministry’s press release. During the meeting, Hossain also expressed gratitude to the Qatar government for hosting a significant number of Bangladeshi expatriates.
The foreign adviser also welcomed investment from Qatar, emphasizing the importance of visits from Qatar’s private sectors to Bangladesh to identify potential investment sectors. Both leaders highlighted the mutual benefits of strengthening economic ties and exploring new areas for collaboration.
Apart from the bilateral meetings, the Bangladesh foreign adviser participated in the last day of the Indian Ocean Conference, held in Muscat, the capital of Oman, under the theme ‘Voyage of New Horizons of Maritime Partnership.’
Hossain is scheduled to return home on Tuesday.
