Dubai: Veteran Bangladesh batter Mahmudullah Riyad was left out from the playing XI in the match against India today due to a strain in his right leg muscle. The experienced batter’s omission from the crucial India match raised a question but later the team management confirmed that the injury prompted him to be ruled out.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the 39-year-old batter sustained the injury during his first practice session after arriving in Dubai. He was not considered for selection as he is yet to recover fully.
Although the injury is deemed not too serious, the team management is closely monitoring his rehabilitation. The seasoned campaigner has been in good form in ODI cricket, scoring four half-centuries in his last five matches.
