Puducherry Legislative Assembly Delegation Visits Pokhara for Experience Sharing


Pokhara: A delegation led by Embalam R Selvum, the Speaker of the Puducherry Legislative Assembly in India, arrived in Pokhara on Monday for a friendly visit aimed at sharing experiences. The team was invited by the Gandaki Province Assembly.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the delegation was warmly received at the Gandaki Province Assembly premises by Speaker Krishna Prasad Dhital, Deputy-Speaker Bina Kumari Thapa, and others. The visiting team was honored with the traditional Nepali Dhaka topi and garland.



During the visit, Selvum invited members of the Gandaki Province Assembly, including Speaker Dhital, to visit Puducherry. He noted that Puducherry, like Pokhara, is a tourist destination and expressed hope that such exchanges would aid in the tourism development of both provinces.



Gandaki PA Speaker Dhital emphasized that the visit would play a crucial role in expanding friendly relations between the two provinces. He remarked that the visit would also enhance bilateral relations between Nepal and India, underscoring Nepal’s commitment to peaceful co-existence and unity in diversity. Dhital expressed confidence that the visit would significantly contribute to tourism promotion in Pokhara.



Deputy-Speaker Bina Kumari Thapa highlighted the visit as an opportunity for both provinces to share their parliamentary practices and experiences. The visiting team was briefed on the structure, activities, and achievements of the Gandaki Province Assembly.



The Puducherry delegation, which includes Deputy-Speaker P Rajvelu and Tourism Minister K Laxmi Narayan among other Legislative Assembly members, is set to explore tourist and religious sites in Pokhara, as reported by the Gandaki PA Secretariat.
