Kathmandu: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka has clarified that his Ministry could not conduct an evaluation on Kulman Ghising, Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority, since he did not submit the performance assessment report on time.
According to National News Agency Nepal, responding to the queries raised by parliamentarians in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Minister Khadka further explained that the performance evaluation report was supposed to be submitted by mid-September last year but was only submitted by mid-January this year.
Khadka noted that problems arose when Ghising repeatedly disobeyed the Ministry’s request to submit the performance assessment within the deadline and sent the assessment with scores assigned arbitrarily after the deadline.
He also shared that the NEA had projected Rs 22 billion to be collected as outstanding payment from dedicated feeders and trunk lines as its profit. The profit made by NEA could not be ascertained due to various reasons. Therefore, he mentioned that the NEA’s shares would be sold only after determining the actual situation.
The Minister highlighted the importance of compliance with policy, regulations, and legislation and stated that his Ministry was also going to practice what he preached.
