Kathmandu: Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has affirmed that the government remains a strong advocate for democratic principles. As the government spokesperson, Minister Gurung addressed the National Assembly (NA) today, countering claims that the government is veering towards anarchy.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Gurung responded to concerns raised during discussions on a proposal to disapprove an ordinance aimed at amending certain Nepal Acts related to good governance and public service delivery. The proposal was introduced by lawmakers Gopi Bahadur Sarki Achhami, Jagat Bahadur Parki, Radheshyam Paswan, and Uday Bahadur Bohora.
Minister Gurung emphasized the government’s dedication to upholding the values of a federal democratic republic, defending the necessity of recent ordinances. He stated, “The State belongs to all. This Ordinance aims to discourage dilly-dallying, bad governance and irregularities, establish good governance and achieve prosperity.”
He reiterated the government’s commitment to the democratic system and its core principles, asserting, “This government firmly believes in the democracy system. It is committed to safeguarding core principles of federal democracy. We respect the glorious presence of the parliament. It is a false accusation to say that anarchy has escalated.”
