Embolden Women’s Struggle to End Violence: Former PM Khanal


Kathmandu: Senior leader of the CPN (Unified Socialist) and former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal has emphasized the need to strengthen women’s struggles and movements dedicated to securing rights as a means to end societal injustice. In his message of best wishes on the occasion of the 115th International Women’s Day, Khanal stressed the importance of continuing effective struggles to eradicate violence against women and to establish a society rooted in gender equality. He extended his wishes for peace, prosperity, and happiness to all women on this significant day.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Khanal highlighted that International Women’s Day is a historic occasion marked by the ongoing battles women have waged for their economic, political, and social rights. He noted that these movements have resulted in substantial changes, promoting rights and equality both within the country and globally. The former Prime Minister acknowledged the notable achievement of women securing 33 percent representation in the federal parliament and approximately 40 percent at the local level. He attributed these milestones to the relentless efforts of women’s movements. Khanal further stated that achieving equal treatment for women and men is a crucial step toward realizing socialism.
