Janamat Party Advocates for Social Democracy as Path Forward

Bardibas: Chairperson of the Janamat Party, Dr. CK (Chandrakant) Raut, has expressed the need for the country to embrace social democracy as its future direction.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Chair Raut conveyed this vision following the conclusion of a two-day central committee meeting of the party in Bardibas. He emphasized the importance of advancing the federal democratic republic system to achieve prosperity, given that the foundation for socialism has yet to be established.

Janamat Party has committed to a production-oriented social democracy to lay the groundwork for this system, Chair Raut stated. He questioned the feasibility of achieving socialism in the absence of a capitalist revolution in the country. The party, he clarified, has resolved to fortify ‘social democracy’ with a focus on production.

Chair Raut further proposed that a directly-elected executive head could serve as a viable solution for the country. He noted that his party would be amenable to either a directly-elected president or prime minister, as long as there is a consensus on this approach.

Addressing recent speculations, Chair Raut dismissed the rumors of monarchy restoration as unfounded. The two-day meeting, which concluded on Monday, underscored the necessity of building a people-centric party and advancing the process of party unification with other like-minded political organizations. To facilitate this, a three-member taskforce led by party Vice-Chairperson Abdul Khan was established to engage in discussions regarding potential partnerships.
