Kathmandu: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stressed that the government should address the demands of the agitating teachers at the earliest. In a meeting with a delegation of the Nepal Teachers’ Federation, the Maoist Centre Chair emphasized the importance of not neglecting the justified demands of the teachers. The Federation is currently protesting to expedite the passage of the School Education Bill from parliament.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Dahal highlighted that despite numerous amendment proposals on the Bill, many are of a similar nature, allowing for a streamlined process to pass the bill, potentially through the formation of a sub-committee. He pointed out that the key factor is the government’s willingness to prioritize education and teachers’ issues.
Dahal, a former Prime Minister, noted the lack of common understanding on the teachers’ demands and the broader education sector. He urged the government to take the demands seriously, recognizing education as a crucial foundation for national prosperity. He also reiterated the Maoist Centre’s commitment to playing a significant role in ensuring the bill is passed in parliament.
