Kathmandu: Members in the National Assembly (NA) have demanded an investigation into the report about the forced demolition of a Dalit in Siraha, citing for site clearance to organise Mahayagya, a religious event.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Ghanashyam Rijal stated that this act is one of caste-based discrimination and called for accountability. Rijal highlighted that the incident is an affront to the Dalit population in the country and contradicts constitutional laws. He also emphasized the need for security for the affected individuals.
Bishnu Devi Pudasaini and Bishnu Bahadur Bishwakarma supported Rijal’s call, labeling the demolition as a crime. They urged the government to take swift action against those responsible, including the local rural municipality chair and the religious leader known as ‘Bajarangi Baba.’
Manrupa Sharma brought attention to another serious issue in the House, involving the murder of 19-year-old Mina Pariyar in Myagdi, calling for prosecution in the case.
Rukmini Koirala pushed for effective action plans to prevent non-communicable diseases, while Renu Chand questioned the progress on the Sahid Dasharath Chand Health Science University Bill 2080 BS.
Bishnu Kumari Sapkota urged the government to avoid causing difficulties for sugarcane farmers in Gulmi, and Krishna Bahadur Rokaya advocated for infrastructure development along the Bheri river.
Shree Krishna Prasad Adhikari objected to remarks made by the Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation regarding the potential resumption of load-shedding.
Lastly, Puja Chaudhary, Baladev Bohara, and Sabitri Malla highlighted various other issues needing government attention.
