Kathmandu: The Constituent Assembly Council has expressed its serious objection to activities conducted against the Constitution of Nepal. At a news conference on Monday, the Council stated that the anti-constitution acts were not tolerable.
According to National News Agency Nepal, a meeting of the Council on Sunday urged political parties to take responsibility for assuring the public on matters of corruption control, rule of law, and good governance. The Council emphasized the need for political parties to demonstrate accountability and inspire public confidence in these areas.
Additionally, the Council concluded that the constitution should undergo amendments through broader consultations with all stakeholders to align with the aspirations and needs of Nepali citizens. The Council highlighted the importance of inclusive dialogue in any constitutional reform process.
Council’s Chairperson Ananta Prasad Poudel stated that attacks on the constitution were unacceptable and committed to defending the constitutional framework. General Secretary Dipak Prasad Kuinkel, Co-chairperson Kalpana Dhamala, CA Member and Senior Advocate Ram Narayan Bidari, and Treasurer Sita Gurung reiterated that the federal democratic republic system was the only viable option for the country.
