Kathmandu: In the eight months of the current fiscal year, 2081/82, the year-on-year inflation has been recorded to be at 3.75 percent. The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) made public the statistics on macroeconomic and financial status of the country in the last eight months on Wednesday and claimed that the inflation was within limit.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the inflation of the food and beverage sector in this period was 3.34 percent, whereas the inflation in the non-food and service category stood at 3.97 percent. The year-on-year national consumer price index highlighted an increase in the prices of ghee and oil under food and beverages by 13.74 percent, pulse and legumes by 7.80 percent, fruits by 6.82 percent, and non-alcoholic drinks by 5.15 percent. Conversely, the index for spices decreased by 5.17 percent, vegetables by 1.24 percent, and fish and meat by 0.74 percent.
Till the month of Falgun, the year-on-year consumer price index in rural areas increased by 4.18 percent, while in urban areas it rose by 3.60 percent. During this period, Koshi Province experienced the highest inflation rate at 5.68 percent, whereas Gandaki Province recorded the lowest inflation rate at 2.77 percent.
