No General Convention Before Election: NC Spokesperson

Siraha: Spokesperson of the Nepali Congress, Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, has ruled out the possibility of a general convention of the party before Mangsir 2082BS. He argued that there was no adequate preparation made for holding the general convention before this date.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Dr. Mahat made this clear while speaking at a program organized by the Nepal Press Union, Siraha chapter on Thursday. He emphasized that even the secretariat for the general convention has not been formed. Moreover, there has been significant delay in the distribution and renewal of membership, making the slated date for the general convention too early. He advocated for postponing the event, suggesting that the date for the party’s mega event to elect new leadership would be extended by at least one year.

On a different note, Dr. Mahat shared that he had launched a campaign to interact with party leaders and cadres along the Postal Highway. He also emphasized that there is no possibility of a constitutional monarchy in Nepal. Additionally, Dr. Mahat asserted that the NC-UML coalition government was working devotedly for the people.
