Anti-Drug Campaign Launched in Parsa


Parsa: A three-month long campaign against drug abuse has been launched in Parsa with an objective of preventing and controlling the use of drug and its trafficking. District Administration Office, Parsa, launched the awareness campaign here on Wednesday in presence of chiefs and deputy chiefs of 14 local levels of the district.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal shared that all should join hands to prevent the drug abuse as it was possible only through collective efforts. Similarly, Mayor of Birgunj Metropolis, Rajesh Man Singh, stressed that all local levels of the district should move together to control and prevent drug abuse.



Deputy Superintendent of Police of Parsa, Kishor Lamsal, mentioned that support of the people from all classes of the society was necessary to control drug abuse as drug smugglers have been using Parsa as the transit to smuggle drug.



The District Police Office reported a total of 269 drug-related cases recorded in the fiscal year 2079/80 BS, with 102 cases documented till March 13 of the current fiscal year.
