Kathmandu: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has conveyed his optimism that the Nepali New Year 2082 BS will be pivotal in fostering entrepreneurship, boosting employment opportunities, and enhancing the health and education sectors. In his New Year message, the Speaker expressed aspirations for 2082 BS to inspire advancements in national stability, development, prosperity, and social justice.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Speaker Ghimire highlighted the nation’s journey, emphasizing the institutional practice of a federal democratic republic, inclusion, social justice, and achievements in the peace process as outcomes of long-standing struggles and sacrifices by the people. He stressed the historic responsibility of safeguarding and further strengthening these accomplishments. Nepal, rich in cultural diversity and history, has entered a phase of new exploration and development. Ghimire pointed out the importance of fortifying the foundations of physical, economic, and social progress, along with ensuring good governance for future endeavors.
Moreover, the Speaker expressed his hope for the New Year to inspire mutual goodwill, national unity, and faith in democratic norms and values, which, in turn, would contribute significantly to the nation’s prosperity.
In a parallel message, National Assembly (NA) Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal also extended New Year greetings, expressing his hopes for an accelerated legislative process in 2082 BS. Dahal underscored the importance of making the 2080s a decade of prosperity and development for Nepal. He acknowledged the Federal Parliament’s roles in lawmaking, government oversight, and amplifying citizens’ voices, but emphasized the urgency of passing several essential laws mandated by the Constitution, given that nearly a decade has passed since its promulgation.
Dahal also cautioned that delays in enacting crucial legislation might impede public service delivery and increase citizen frustration. He urged political parties to prioritize addressing the people’s needs and aspirations over narrow self-interests. Furthermore, Dahal voiced concern over recent anti-republic demonstrations, affirming that a strengthened republic is the only viable alternative to the current system and stressed the collective duty to raise awareness of its significance.
