60,367 Hectares of Fertile Land Gets Irrigation Facility in Dang


Dang: The Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division Office in Dang has successfully completed 269 out of 271 projects in the fiscal year 2081/82 BS.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Office Chief Krishna Bahadur BK reported that the office utilized Rs 318 million of the allocated Rs 327 million budget, achieving a spending rate of 97.27 percent. The completed projects include 87 under the water-induced disaster reduction and management program, 145 focused on irrigation project maintenance, improvement, and expansion, 32 centered on deep irrigation projects based on middle and alternative projects, and five reservoir projects.



Despite these achievements, two plans related to irrigation project maintenance, improvement, and expansion remain unimplemented. The office is currently progressing with three multi-year projects, having signed contract agreements for the Jhingi Babai Irrigation Project in Ghorahi-3 and the Gharichour Irrigation Project in Bangalachuli-7, while tenders have been announced for the Bastikhola Irrigation Project in Shantinagar-3 and 4.



Since 2072 BS, the office has constructed a 162-kilometer canal, 67 lift irrigation projects, and 67 pump houses. This has resulted in an additional 7,632 hectares of land receiving irrigation facilities, with strengthened irrigation on 31,583 hectares of land. Furthermore, a total of 72.77 kilometers of embankments have been constructed, protecting 12,546 hectares of land and 8,658 houses.



Chief BK highlighted that out of 75,991 hectares of fertile land in Dang, 60,367 hectares now benefit from irrigation facilities.
