Grant Agreement Between Gandaki Institute of Technology and South Korean Government for Infrastructure Development


Pokhara: The Gandaki Institute of Technology and the government of South Korea have signed a grant agreement worth Rs 1.25 billion for the development of infrastructure at the Gandaki Institute of Technology. This significant collaboration aims to bolster the educational and vocational landscape in the region.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Finance Secretary Ghanashyam Upadhyaya and South Korean Ambassador to Nepal, Park Tae-Young, signed the agreement, representing their respective governments. The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) will act as the project implementing agency on behalf of the South Korean government. Meanwhile, the Gandaki Province’s Ministry of Social Development, Youth and Sports Ministry, and the Gandaki Technical Education and Vocational Training Academy (GTEVTA) will coordinate the implementation on behalf of the government of Nepal.



During the signing ceremony, Finance Secretary Upadhyaya outlined that the project is anticipated to be completed by December 31, 2030. The initiative aims to produce competent workforces capable of meeting both national and international requirements. Furthermore, it aspires to develop Gandaki Province as a technical hub, strengthen vocational training programs, enhance the skills of teachers and students, and foster partnerships with industries and businesses.



Finance Secretary Upadhyaya remarked that the agreement is expected to advance vocational and technical education in Nepal, contributing to the country’s socio-economic development by developing a skilled workforce that meets labor market demands. South Korean Envoy to Nepal, Park Tae-Young, emphasized that the project is an investment in people, skills, and the future workforce of Nepal, expressing confidence that it will enhance Nepal’s capacity to provide high-quality, industry-relevant technical education.
