Morang: Senior journalist Tirtha Koirala has been awarded the Koshraj Regmi Memorial Journalism Award, 2082 BS. Speaker of the Koshi Province Assembly, Ambar Bahadur Bista, presented the award to journalist Koirala, who is the Chair of the Nepal Press Institute, during a program organized by the Pitambar-Khileshwori Memorial Trust and the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Morang.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the award comes with a cash prize of Rs 25,000. During the event, Speaker Bista highlighted that the forthcoming Province Communications Academy Bill is designed to enhance the rights of journalists. This initiative signifies a step towards ensuring better conditions and protections for those in the journalism profession.
The Koshraj Regmi Memorial Journalism Award has been previously bestowed upon notable former FNJ central chairs such as Harihar Birahi, Bishnu Nisthuri, and Dharmendra Jha, celebrating their contributions to the field of journalism.
