Kathmandu: Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakash Man Singh has expressed his confidence that the Civil Service Bill will be passed by the federal parliament at the earliest opportunity. Speaking at a program organized by the Civil Service Day Main Ceremony Committee in celebration of Civil Service Day, 2082, DPM Singh emphasized the government’s commitment to advancing the Federal Civil Service Bill, which is anticipated to be a significant milestone for strengthening administrative federalism.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that the bill would be passed through the consensus of political parties, addressing the demands and sentiments of employees. He highlighted the critical role of civil service as the backbone of governance and its integral part in nation-building. Singh noted that civil servants are tasked with implementing development, good governance, and service delivery.
DPM Singh further opined that the role of civil service is crucial in distributing the benefits of democracy and enhancing citizens’ trust and confidence in the state by institutionalizing a federal democratic republic. He urged civil servants to be more committed to delivering efficient and result-oriented services, placing service seekers at the center of their efforts. Singh added that the civil administration, under political guidance, should strive to achieve the long-term goals of ‘Prosperous Nepal: Happy Nepali’.
Emphasizing the primary responsibility of the civil service, Singh stated that it must perform its duties with the long-term goals, periodic plans, government policies, programs, and the budget of the current fiscal year in focus. He underscored the government’s progress towards effective federalism implementation, improved public service delivery, and a zero-tolerance policy on corruption.
