Birgunj: The District Administration Office in Parsa has imposed an indefinite curfew in Birgunj Metropolitan City following a protest organized by the GenZ group that escalated beyond control. Chief District Officer Toya Narayan Subedi announced the curfew, initially set from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, has now been extended to manage the increasing unrest and demonstrations.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the curfew applies to areas from Bypass Road in the east to Sirsiya Bridge in the west, Gandak Chowk in the north, and Sankaracharya in the south. The order prohibits rallies, demonstrations, meetings, and the picketing of any office within the designated zones.
Despite the extended curfew, the GenZ group has continued its aggressive actions, including setting fire to government offices and properties of political leaders. Significant facilities such as the Nepal Telecom Birgunj Office, the Inland Revenue Office, and the Birgunj Metropolitan City Office have been targeted. Additionally, private residences of lawmakers and political figures have also been attacked and set ablaze by protestors.
