Kathmandu: The Nepali Army (NA) has extended its gratitude to citizens for their cooperation with security agencies in maintaining peace amidst the current tumultuous situation in the country. It expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and property during the protests and urged the public to assist security forces in curbing criminal activities.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the NA has observed ongoing vandalism and arson due to the infiltration of anarchic individuals and groups. In response, a prohibitory order has been issued until 5:00 pm today, followed by a curfew from then until 6:00 am on Thursday. The NA stated that further announcements would be made based on the situation’s assessment.
Despite the prohibitory order and curfew, vehicles involved in essential services such as ambulances, hearses, fire engines, and health work will continue to operate. The NA advised relevant personnel and offices to coordinate with nearby security officials for necessary facilitation.
The NA Public Relations and Information Directorate emphasized ongoing coordination with all concerned parties to resolve the issues. It warned of strict actions against those involved in criminal activities like vandalism, looting, arson, and protest during the prohibitory order and curfew.
The NA urged security personnel, civil servants, media persons, and citizens to rely on credible information and avoid spreading false and misleading news. It expressed confidence in receiving public cooperation to maintain national unity and social harmony, aiming to restore normalcy.
The statement reiterated the NA’s commitment to ensuring the security of all Nepalis and carrying out humanitarian actions, seeking support in these efforts.
