Kathmandu: Nepali Congress General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma have welcomed the initiative taken by the President to find a way out of the current difficult situation through talks and dialogue.
According to National News Agency Nepal, in a joint statement, the General Secretaries urged all parties to seek a solution through dialogue after necessary consultations. They appealed to the general public, civil society, the media, and the international community to support efforts by all security agencies, including the Nepal Army, to maintain law and order.
They emphasized the importance of restraint and unity among all parties to move the country toward peace and reconstruction following recent events. The statement stressed the need for serious commitment to ensuring the democratic path for the country’s prosperity and future.
The initiative should align with the spirit of the Gen-Z generation, with decisions made in accordance with necessity, following legal paths as per the Constitution. The General Secretaries advocated for adopting all possible legal measures to prevent a prolonged constitutional vacuum, urging a constitutional and democratic solution.
They called for a thorough investigation into the excessive use of force during Monday’s protests, demanding justice through a high-level commission. The statement condemned acts of arson in government offices, media houses, and commercial establishments, attributing them to deliberate infiltration beyond the Gen-Z protesters’ intentions.
Finally, they committed to reconstructing the Nepali Congress as a party that engages in responsible politics, reflecting the aspirations and expectations of the youth.
