Public Buses Resume Operations from Gongabu New Bus Park

Kathmandu: Public buses have commenced operations from the Gongabu-based New Bus Park as of today. This marks a significant step in the resumption of public transportation services, which had been halted due to a government-imposed prohibitory order and curfew following the GenZ protest on September 8 and 9.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Pankaj Malla, the Human Resources Chief of Lhotse Multipurpose Pvt Ltd, reported that dozens of public vehicles departed from Kathmandu Valley between 7:00 am and 10:00 am today. The Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs, which serves as an umbrella organization for transport entrepreneurs, had previously released a directive advising transport operator organizations against operating services under the recent circumstances.

Despite the lack of official coordination, public vehicles proceeded to leave the Kathmandu Valley independently. Saroj Sitaula, the Senior President of the Federation, mentioned that discussions with security bodies and the ministry are ongoing to establish a more organized approach to the operation of transport services in the future.
