Government Offices and Schools Resume Services After Gen-Z Protests in Baitadi

Baitadi: All government offices and local levels in Baitadi district have resumed service delivery following the disruption caused by Gen-Z protests last week. The protests led to the temporary shutdown of schools, social organizations, and other public agencies due to incidents of vandalism and arson.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Chief District Officer of Baitadi, Punya Bikram Paudel, confirmed that government offices have returned to their regular operations and public service delivery has resumed. “The government offices have been run. And, the public service delivery is also regular now,” CDO Paudel stated. However, he noted that the number of public service recipients remains low despite the resumption of office work.

No detailed reports of damages to government offices in the district have been received, and operations are proceeding smoothly. Schools have also reopened, with regular classes resuming, as confirmed by Narendra Bhat, Headmaster of Rauleshwor Secondary School. “The schools have reopened. The classes are regular now. The number of students attending the schools is usual,” Bhat commented.

Baitadi District Police Spokesperson, Balaram Pandey, reported that life in the district has returned to normal with the reopening of government offices, organizations, schools, and markets. “Life is back to normal now,” Pandey added.

The district experienced a curfew and prohibitory order during the Gen-Z protests, which significantly disrupted daily life. Despite this, public service delivery at the local levels in Baitadi district is now regular.

Chief Administrative Officer Naresh Raj Joshi of Dogdakedar Rural Municipality stated that office works have resumed. Services are also regular in Shivanath Rural Municipality, as confirmed by Chairman Karna Singh Saud. “We have opened our office from today. The services being delivered from the rural municipality have been started,” Saud said.

Chairman of Sigas Rural Municipality, Harisingh Dhami, mentioned that the Gen-Z protest did not impact their area. “We had no situation to shut the office. The service delivery was regular,” Dhami explained.
